Dropshippers / Practical guide

Before you call it a winning product, watch what people respond to.

Use organic momentum to build a product shortlist worth validating.

Start with the problem, then the product.

A striking product video can make an idea look obvious. A better research question is more specific: what problem does it demonstrate, and does that problem matter to the audience you want to reach?

Build a watchlist around one niche. Include competing stores and creators who show the product in everyday use. Catchrise lets you compare their public Instagram and TikTok content without treating every large lifetime view count as a fresh opportunity.

Look for movement across several examples.

Compare gains between recorded checks and use views per hour to judge pace. A post that gained attention recently deserves a different conversation from one whose large total barely moved. Open the original posts to examine the problem, demonstration and questions in the comments.

  • Compare the same metric over similar observation intervals.
  • Look for the problem appearing across several accounts, rather than one isolated hit.
  • Save useful demonstrations with a note about the customer problem and the offer you would need to test.

Turn the shortlist into a validation brief.

Imagine researching muddy-dog accessories. One video shows the mess after a walk; another demonstrates a drying robe. Record which example is gaining views, what the product does and whether commenters ask about sizing, washing or delivery. Those questions can shape your supplier checks and product-page brief.

Then validate outside Catchrise: order samples, check landed costs, examine returns and delivery times, and test your own offer. Catchrise measures content attention. It does not reveal a competitor’s sales, profit or conversion rate.

Try this

Start with three to five relevant accounts. Save three product demonstrations and write down the problem, proof and practical question you still need to answer.
